ERM Scholarship Program

The ERM Scholarship program came about from a desire here in America to financially and prayerfully support individual Ethiopians as they seek to further their knowledge of the Word through participation in the courses offered by Ezra Rural Training Center. The students selected for scholarships are hand-picked by Director Dereje Shiferaw from his many needy students.

At the Training Center, Christian Ethiopians are trained in such topics as: Understanding Islam, Christian Ethics, Church Planting and Growth, How to Evangelize Illiterates, How to Interpret the Word of God, Health Education, and much more. Some advanced students also get trained to teach these subjects to local church leadership. Both during and after training, the students are sent back into their rural villages to serve their own people.

For only $25 a month, less than a dollar a day, you can support THREE rural Ethiopian students as they further their spiritual education in order to more effectively spread the Gospel. Many of these students have a limited ability to fully support themselves and their families, let alone pay for further education. Many of them have thrown themselves on the mercy of God as they enter into full-time ministry in their own rural villages. Your gift encourages them in the faith.

When you agree to provide scholarships in this program, you enter into a one-year faith commitment to those students. As a donor you will receive a short biography (and a picture, if available) of the individuals you support. If you desire, you may, in turn, send pictures and information of yourself and family via email to the Ethiopian director of Ezra Rural Ministry, Dereje Shiferaw. You will also receive updates, prayer requests, and additional pictures as they become available. At the end of your one-year faith commitment, you will be given the opportunity to provide scholarships to new students chosen from the Ezra Rural Ministry Training Center.
