News: Prairie Bible Church Celebrates Fifth Anniversary of ERM
On Sunday, March 22, 2009, worshippers at Prairie Bible Church in Dillon celebrated the fifth anniversary of Ezra Rural Ministry with preaching, prayer, and party food. Everyone gathered downstairs to share a cake decorated in the colors of the Ethiopian flag- red, green, and yellow. It said, "Ezra Rural Ministry- Congratulations". Beautiful Ethiopian-made baskets held other treats. While enjoying the food and fellowship, the crowd watched a slide show that David Mantha put together with about 150 pictures of ERM. Becky Mantha played one of her Christian cds that is sung in Amharic. After this, Pastor Paul Peck preached about all God is doing through Ezra Rural Ministry in Ethiopia.
Every year or so, Prairie Bible Church sends representatives across the globe to meet with Dereje Shiferaw and his staff, ERM board members, and graduating students at the ERM Training Center in Hosanna, Ethiopia. This coming May, a team of four will be sent- George Eaves, David and Becky Mantha, all three of Dillon, and recently graduated high school student David Suda of Minnesota, who spent two months with Dereje last year. George Eaves, who has just retired from Barrett Minerals, is an elder at Prairie Bible Church and plans to meet his “adopted” son in Ethiopia during this trip. David Mantha, an ERM board member, is a student at UM-Western working toward a B.A. in mathematics. Becky Mantha is the adopted daughter of Rev. Paul Peck and his wife Cyndi. Becky, originally from Ethiopia, is a graduate in therapeutic massage from the Asten Center. David Suda is a home schooled high school graduate who has tutored Ethiopians in English and assisted in the work of ERM. David is the brother of two adopted Ethiopian children and also supports an Ethiopian child through World Vision.
In an anniversary message to those celebrating here in America, Dereje Shiferaw said, “Thank you very much, all you who are supporting Ezra Rural Ministry, and we pray God to bless you as you celebrate our Fifth Anniversary. We look forward to seeing David and Becky Mantha, George Eaves, and David Suda, and sharing the blessing and the love of God that He has put among us.”
